Notifications
Bitsmith records every notable event in the Activity log no matter what. Notifications are about reaching you when you’re not looking at the interface, so you hear about a degraded drive or a failed backup promptly. Set them up under Notifications (System, Users & access).
Channels
Section titled “Channels”In-app alerts are always on. On top of that you can configure outbound channels:
- Email, sent over SMTP to admin users who have an email address. Enter your SMTP host, port, credentials, and a from address.
- Webhook, posts the event as JSON to a URL you provide. Use this to wire events into your own automation.
- Telegram, sends a message through a Telegram bot. Provide the bot token, then pick the chat to deliver to.
Each channel has a Test action so you can confirm it works before relying on it.
Which events go where
Section titled “Which events go where”Once a channel is set up, choose which events use it. Turn individual events (storage degraded, backup failed, an app crashed, and others) on or off per channel, so noisy events can stay in-app while the ones that matter reach your phone.
A good starting point: send critical storage and backup events to email or Telegram, and leave routine information in the activity log.
